Sayen’s Story
I grew up on a busy working farm in rural England. As a child, I spent days in the woods with my trusted friend, a chestnut pony. Here I first met the trees, mushrooms, plants and spirits which have helped guide and teach me throughout my life.
I have worked in nature related therapeutic projects for many years, and in 2019 I began helping people access the healing powers of mushrooms. MyCo4 exists to work holistically with clients across a range of conditions. My learning is ongoing, and I have been fortunate to train in mycotherapy with Fred Gillam and Natasha Kenyon at the Wild Side of Life and IMMA - Integrative Myco Medicine Association
I’m a member of the British Mycological Society (link - https://www.britmycolsoc.org.uk/) and part of the professional register at Hifas de Terra. I am now delighted to work alongside Martin Powell, and we have recently set up the Mushroom dispensary.
I have a positive approach to life, which like most of us has often faced challenges. In 2016 my partner passed away from cancer and this prompted me to begin my training with medicinal mushrooms. My personal experience with mushrooms has been life changing - self-treating though a double hip replacement and ongoing osteoarthritis, plus general wellbeing.
I feel extremely honoured to work with mushrooms and am proud to have taken the words of the great Gary Linkcoff literally:
“You should give up whatever job you have and just quit. Just stop now, and devote the rest of your life to mushrooms.”
